Privacy Policy

StayOn is a menu bar utility for the Mac. The short version: StayOn collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers operated by the developer. The long version follows, and it is not much longer.
What StayOn stores, and where
StayOn keeps one setting — whether you declined the one-time setup — in your Mac's standard app preferences, on your Mac. If you turn on Start at Login, macOS records that as a login item. This information never leaves your device and is never transmitted to anyone.
What the developer receives
Nothing. StayOn contains no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party code. The developer cannot see your settings, when you use the app, or that you use it at all. If you email support, the developer receives your email — that is the complete list.
What StayOn looks at on your Mac
To do its job, StayOn reads your Mac's sleep setting, whether the lid is open or closed, the battery level, the display brightness, and whether an app named Claude is running. It uses these only to decide when to change the sleep setting and the screen brightness. None of it is recorded or sent anywhere.
Administrator access
Changing the sleep setting requires administrator rights. During setup, with your password, StayOn adds a rule to your Mac's sudo configuration that lets your account run two specific commands without a password: pmset -a disablesleep 1 and pmset -a disablesleep 0. StayOn never sees or stores your password; macOS handles the prompt.
Network connections StayOn makes
None. StayOn does not connect to the internet.
Children
StayOn does not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included — it does not collect information at all.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new effective date. Given what the policy says, changes seem unlikely.
